Protocatechusäure (PCA) ist eine Dihydroxybenzoesäure, eine Art Phenolsäure. Es ist ein Hauptmetabolit von antioxidativen Polyphenolen, die im grünen Tee enthalten sind. Es hat gemischte Auswirkungen auf normale und Krebszellen in in vitro- und in vivo -Studien.
Protocatechusäure (PCA) ist antioxidativ und entzündungshemmend. PCA, extrahiert aus Hibiskus sabdariffa, geschützt gegen chemisch induzierte Lebertoxizität in vivo.
